Salem, MA - The witch trials' city.

This city has a red path marked in the floor, and in the same way as Boston, show the way throuth the most important points of the city. Is a good walk in a place filled of history (and stores using witches as a theme).

By 1790, Salem was a large and important city in US and a famous seaport, trading mostly with China. Nowadays the city is particularly famous because of the witch trials occurred in 1962/3 in which over 150 people were arrested and 29 were executed.
It's worth go to the Peabody Essex Museum, where you can visit a typical Chinese house (a late 18th-century house - $ 5 extra fee) and join the Historic House Tours  (included in the museum ticket).

The path leads to great places to visit, scenic views and historic buildins. all of them worth the walk. By the end of the day, a pit stop at Boston Hot Dog was surprisingly good (they don`t accept credit nor debit cards, but there is an ATM inside)!

And just to remember, it is possible to get there using the T from Boston and during the October weekends you will have an amazing surprise (specially the last one in the month).

Walden Pond, MA

This place is where Henry David Thoreau lived while he wrote one of his most famous book Walden in 1854.
There you can fish, swimming, and have a nice walk around the lake (good for kids too).
It is a good place to remember some of Thoreau's famous phrase and think about what are you doing with your "life time".

It's a day of fun, 30 minutes away from Boston, MA by car and a perfect place to spend a day with highly energetic kids. However I believe it will be completely crowded during the summer.

Newport, Road Island - Cliff Walk

The last weekend we went in a light walk at the seashore in Newport, Road Island.

It was a nice walk at Cliff Walk this weekend, the weather was perfect around 60º F (more or less 15º Celsius). Unfortunately part of the walk was blocked due to the damages made by Sandy (a hurricane stroked the area last October).
When we reached the blocked area, we did our way back passing through some mansions, it's amazing how big they are! But I couldn't avoid to think that I would get lost inside the house... and how many bathrooms they have? It would take forever to clean a place like that kkk

Wahconah Falls, MA

This is a small fall, more or less 2 hours distant from Boston (see the map below). Unfortunately swimming is not allowed although there are some picnic areas with picnic grills.

It is possible to walk in some small trails in fresh air.
