This city has a red path marked in the floor, and in the same way as Boston, show the way throuth the most important points of the city. Is a good walk in a place filled of history (and stores using witches as a theme).
By 1790, Salem was a large and important city in US and a famous seaport, trading mostly with China.
Nowadays the city is particularly famous because of the witch trials occurred in 1962/3 in which over 150 people were arrested and 29 were executed.
It's worth go to the Peabody Essex Museum, where you can visit a typical Chinese house (a late 18th-century house - $ 5 extra fee) and join the Historic House Tours
(included in the museum ticket).
The path leads to great places to visit, scenic views and historic buildins. all of them worth the walk. By the end of the day, a pit stop at Boston Hot Dog was surprisingly good (they don`t accept credit nor debit cards, but there is an ATM inside)!
And just to remember, it is possible to get there using the T from Boston and during the October weekends you will have an amazing surprise (specially the last one in the month).
